Project: Bean Meadow Enhancement for Climate Resiliency

Description: The Project will achieve these objectives by implementing targeted restoration activities that will create a higher water table, reconnecting the historic Bean Creek flood-plain, redirect the hydrological flow path to the remnant channels, and re-water the meadow. As a result, the project area will support groundwater recharge and late season flows in addition to allowing sediment deposition in the meadow during high water flows. The wet meadow will support a greater abundance of vegetation and wildlife species. Additionally, the Project will address areas of degrading habitat by implementing both mechanical and had restoration methods to eroding areas. Finally, the healthy meadow is expected to increase sequestration of greenhouse gasses.
