Project: Corte Madera Creek (CMC)

Description: The Corte Madera Creek Levee Evaluation Project (Project) will evaluate the feasibility of increasing the level of flood protection for the residences, businesses, and institutions residing within Corte Madera Creek’s 100-year floodplain, and take vital steps towards Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) accreditation. The Project expands on the ongoing United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) General Reevaluation Report (GRR), which involves the re-evaluation, design, and construction of flood control improvements to Unit 4, including modifications to Unit 2 and 3 related to proposed Unit 4 improvements. The improvements address channel capacity and fish passage issues. The Project will also evaluate the feasibility of increasing the existing levee (or floodwall) heights or constructing new levees or floodwalls in the lower portions of Corte Madera Creek.
