Project: Geotechnical Evaluation of Flood Control Zone 3A Line A-1 levees, in the City of Union City, Alameda County

Description: Zone 3A Line A-1 levees were constructed by the Alameda Flood Control and Water Conservation District. A Provisional Accredited Levee Agreement (PAL) was not offered to these levees as they are currently not providing 100-year flood protection. The geotechnical evaluation will include performing a field geotechnical exploration program, soil testing, engineering analysis, and final written report.

Reference Number: 3860-P84-100

Implemented By: Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District

Objective: A levee geotechnical evaluation report is a primary document needed to fulfill the requirements of a Provisional Accredited Levee Agreement with FEMA and is also necessary to achieve levee certification. A geotechnical report will confirm that the levee system can contain the base water surface profile or identify at what level elevation the levee is likely to fail. It can also identify areas for improvement. The objective of this type of project is to produce such a report for each flood control structure evaluated.
