This public safety project will protect the City of Sacramento from high water events and from flooding associated with Morrison Creek, Florin Creek, Elder Creek and Unionhouse Creek. This project will increase the level of flood protection for the urbanized area of South Sacramento County and an area to the south and east of the City of Sacramento from a 1 in 50 flood event to a greater than 1 in 100 flood event, based on 90 percent reliability. The project features include constructing 7 miles of floodwalls, improving 9 miles of existing levees, constructing 1.5 miles of new levees along portions of the North Beach Lake levee and Morrison, Florin, Elder, and Unionhouse Creeks; channel excavation and widening of the levee on North Beach Lake and a portion of the levee on Morrison, Florin, and Unionhouse Creeks; raising and extending the levee around Sacramento Regional Water Treatment Plant. Approximately 200 acre ecosystem restoration. Total project amount includes State support costs for project implementation.
