Project: Enhancing larval Delta Smelt fitness to ensure successful supplementation

Description: Delta Smelt is an endangered species that is becoming functionally extinct in the wild. Funding will be used to test experimental enclosures and evaluate their effectiveness in rearing captive-hatched Delta Smelt embryos and larvae directly in their natural environment.

Reference Number: 3600BQ2196014

Implemented By: Regents of the University of California, Davis

Objective: The overall goal of this project is to contribute to understanding of Delta Smelt ecological fitness responses to variability in rearing conditions, in order to inform development of successful population supplementation strategies.
