Project: City of Watsonville Cilmate Action Plan

Description: Comprehensive Climate Action Plan to assess GHG impacts in government and local industry, integrated with the 2030 VISTA General Plan. Includes development of a voluntary Local Carbon Offset Program and an inventory of projects that might be suitable for the AB32 Community Benefit Fund. Includes extensive resident outreach program and will be fully coordinated with others in the region.

Objective: There is a need to promote sustainable planning at the regional and local levels. The purpose of this grant program is to meet the goals of the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 and to encourage land use planning for sustainability and community revitalization associated with the implementation of Senate Bill 375. Objectives of the Sustainable Planning Grant and Incentives Program include a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, protection of open spaces and agricultural lands, increased water and energy conservation and efficiency, the promotion of a prosperous economy and safe, healthy and walkable communities.
