Project: Butte Creek Water Right Acquisition

Description: This Project will ensure water flows of 5.0 cubic feet per second (cfs) are maintained instream from April 1 - October 15 of each year, and 1.5 cfs for the remainder of the year to support fish and wildlife resources, including State and federally threatened spring-run Chinook salmon, in Butte Creek. This Project is necessary to ensure that these water rights are not returned to consumptive use. Funding for this Project will be used to acquire free title water rights in Butte Creek that have been dedicated to the protection of fish and wildlife dependent on instream flows.

Objective: Project objectives include payment of Department of Water Resources Butte Creek Watermaster fees, a complete appraisal, independent review of that appraisal, Department of General Services approved appraisal, purchase agreement, water rights grant deed, other transactional documents, disbursement request, and documents recorded at closing which convey the water rights to the Grantee.
