Project: Emerald Bay State Park and D. L. Bliss State Park: Forest Restoration

Description: This project will combine a variety of treatment methods including the use of logging equipment, hand crews and helicopter logging to remove woody fuels and restore forest health in Emerald Bay and D. L. Bliss State Parks. The project will, 1) provide for public health and safety by reducing fuel loads and the chance of catastrophic fire, 2) establish healthier forest stand conditions through the reduction of the number of trees per acre in the overcrowded forests, and 3) restore the scenic qualities of the Emerald Bay area through the removal of unnaturally high numbers of dead trees.
