Trout Creek has been dramatically altered by past land uses and lacks consistent morphological characteristics typical of natural stream systems. Funding for this project will be used to restore natural geomorphic function and create a functioning riparian corridor on lower Trout Creek, reduce fine sediment loads into the channel, improve water quality, enhance aquatic habitat, provide 100-year flood protection, and improve the recreational and aesthetic value of lower Trout Creek by integrating the stream and riparian restoration project with recreational opportunities.
Town of Truckee
This project will 1) Restore approximately 2,000 linear feet of stream channel, 2) Create approximately 3.7 acres of quality floodplain and wetland areas, 3) Create 2.5 acres of wet meadow and riparian habitat, 4) Create .7 acres of upland buffer habitat, 5) Stabilize in-stream temperatures, 6) Improve terrestrial habitats, and 7) Reduce flooding risks in Trout Creek.
