Project: Kings River Conservation District FCO -2

Description: This project grant funds the King River Conservation District to improve watershed hydrologic and Metrologic data collection, storage, dissemination, and exchange for improved reservoir operations. The grant will be used to purchase and install gaging equipment, rebuild gaging sites, acquire data using airborne remote sensing, develop models and reservoir release coordination protocols. The funds will help implement the Forecast-Coordinated Operations Program’s objective of improved flood protection by reducing peak flood flows downstream through the use of improved watershed and river forecasting and greater coordination of releases from San Joaquin Valley reservoirs during flood operations.
