Project: Palo Alto Horizontal Levee Pilot Project

Description: The Conservancy granted the Association of Bay Area Governments, working through the San Francisco Estuary Partnership, $500,000 to engage communities and technical experts to design and permit the Palo Alto Horizontal Levee, a multi-benefit horizontal levee adjacent to the Regional Water Quality Control Plant. The project will restore critical habitat, support watershed adaptation to climate change, and improve water quality. Designs produced will also include public access features.
