Project: Full-Scale Ocean Water Desalination Facility Environmental Documentation

Description: The project includes several components of completing the environmental documentation for West Basin's planned ocean desalination facility. Specific activities include: develop a comprehensive work plan and schedule; review various draft and/or final technical studies; develop and draft significance criteria for impacts of the Project on environmental resources; develop a list of alternatives; prepare a draft permitting strategy; identify the areas of impact and develop associated mitigation measures, and review all areas of impact and associated mitigation measures; develop a Citizen's Guide; develop a Public Notification Plan; complete Final EIR.

Objective: The objective of this Project is to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and develop and certify an environmental impact report (EIR) that will move West Basin Municipal Water District towards full implementation of an Ocean-Water Desalination Program.
