Project: El Capitan Creek Fish Passage Restoration Implementation

Description: This Project is necessary to remove a barrier to Southern California steelhead migration in a watershed designated as Core 3 for steelhead restoration in National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS) Southern California Steelhead Recovery Plan. One culvert on El Capitan Creek will be removed and will be replaced with a bridge, providing access to a safer stream crossing while increasing flow and debris conveyance within the El Capitan State Beach Campground. Removal of this barrier will provide steelhead access to an additional 4.3 miles of high quality habitat within this watershed.
