Project: Murrieta Creek Flood Control, Environmental Restoration and Recreation Project

Description: The Murrieta Creek Flood Control, Environmental Restoration and Recreation Project is a multi-purpose flood risk management, ecosystem restoration and recreation project that will provide 100-year flood protection for the Cities of Temecula and Murrieta in Riverside County. The Project consists of about seven miles of channel improvements, three bridge replacements, a 270 acre multi-purpose basin with 163 acres of wetland restoration and a 49 acre park. Channel improvements are to widen downstream of the basin through the City of Temecula, and a widen and include levees on both sides extending from Elm Street upstream through the City of Murrieta to Tenaja Road. The Project is divided into four construction phases. Phases 1 and 2 are substantially complete, but a limited reevaluation report (LRR) and potential change in authorization is in progress by USACE.
