Objective: T&E Species Habitat. China Hill sits within the USFWS Critical Habitat Designation for the Yreka phlox. The Yreka Phlox recovery plan identifies the protection of China Hill as key to the recovery of the species. Species observed on the Property that will benefit from its protection include the following: raptors like Swainson’s hawk, burrowing owl, osprey, golden eagle, bald eagle, and prairie falcon. Deer, bobcat, coyote, and rabbit are known to use the Property as well.
