Project: South Coast MPA Baseline Monitoring

Description: Funds will be used to collect data in the marine environments of the southern California coast region, including but not limited to: habitat mapping, fish population surveys, and water quality analysis. The data will be used to document baseline conditions prior to the establishment of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in this region. Collection of baseline data is required by the federal Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) in order to determine the effectiveness of MPAs in protecting marine environments.
