Project: Hornitos Ranch Conservation Easement Acquisition Project

Description: The Project will acquire conservation easement over approximately 7,182 acres of land commonly known as Hornitos Ranch to conserved in its predominantly natural, scenic, agricultural, historical, and open-space condition and used for the purposes of wildlife habitat conservation, management, and potential future restoration and enhancement; conservation of critical water resources and watersheds; protection of working landscapes and wildlife corridor connectivity; and for compatible public or private uses, all as may be consistent with wildlife habitat preservation and protection of sensitive biological resources, including, without limitation, diverse habitats for plants and wildlife; natural resources such as oak woodlands, grasslands; vernal pools, seeps and springs, watershed and riparian features; grazing and rangeland resources that support the regional ranching economy; and scenic open space value visible from public roads and Lake McSwain Recreation Area (individually and collectively, Conservation Values).
