Project: Little Grass Valley Reservoir Watershed Protection

Description: This Project, using hand and mechanical thinning, will treat hazardous fuels on a minimum of 480 of the prioritized acres. The project will expand into an additional 770 acres if funds, time, and conditions allow.

Reference Number: 3855P011012

Implemented By: Plumas County Fire Safe Council

Objective: To decrease the likelihood of future wildfires that could create large occurrences of high soil burn severity, reduce the forest crown bulk density, decreasing water lost to transpiration and increasing ground water availability, allow for greater snow accumulations on the forest floor, potentially increasing watershed storage capacity and moderating runoff – benefitting water quality and quantity for local and downstream users.
