The Conservancy will develop a Lake Tahoe Basinwide climate adaptation action plan (Plan) in collaboration with agency partners. The planning effort includes a synthesis of climate science as it relates to the Basin and a vulnerability assessment (VA) that uses downscaled climate models to identify the types and locations where vulnerabilities exist in the Basin's natural environment, the built environment, and recreation-based economy. The Plan will be developed using the results of the vulnerability assessment to create strategies and specific recommendations to address the impacts of rising temperatures and extreme weather events.
Additional Tasks for this project are Infographics for the final CAAP VA report and 2019 Lake Tahoe Summit, additional VAs for recreation, cultural landscapes, and public health. Staff will participate in the analysis and coordination of the climate change impacts to support the interagency Lak Tahoe West Restoration Partnership and Upper Truckee RIver Restoration Strategy by providing guidance for landscape-scale restoration and subsequent site-specific projects.
Prop 68 will allow current Basinwide Climate Adaptation Action Plan efforts to continue.
