The project includes upgrades to the existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) site and new treatment facilities at a new WWTP site. The project will upgrade the wastewater treatment plant facilities that are nearing the end of their typical service life in order to accommodate projected flows and future regulatory requirements. Also, the project will improve reliability and redundancy in the system to reduce risk of unauthorized discharge to a nearby creek by changing the location of the wastewater treatment plant.
Improvements at the existing site include modifying headworks, modifying the site to provide an emergency storage pond, and converting the existing effluent pump station to an influent pump station. Improvements at the new JSD Quartz Reservoir site include providing secondary treatment facilities, providing tertiary treatment and disinfection facilities for a sidestream flow, providing sludge treatment and sludge dewatering facilities, providing composting facilities, and relocating the administration office to the new site.
