Project: Planning for Priority Meadow Restoration in Lahontan Basin Watersheds

Description: The Project will complete assessment, design, and permitting for a set of four priority meadow restoration projects (Bogard, Logan Springs, Forestdale, and Faith Valley Meadows) that will enhance conditions in two Lahontan Basin Watersheds: the Carson River and Pine Creek. These watersheds are critical for three threatened endemic trout species: Eagal Lake Trout, Lahontan Cutthroat, and Piute Cutthroat Trout. Completion of the Project will make all four meadow sites shovel-ready for restoration implementation, adaptive management, and post-project monitoring.

Objective: Objectives are: to fully assess the condition (including hydrologic and ecological function) of four meadows to inform restoration designs; initiate monitoring to quantify hydrologic and ecological benefits once the meadows are restored; and design restoration of four meadow sites to ensure that restoration will result in multiple benefits.
