Project: North Coast Funding Area: Outreach, Support, and Coordination

Description: Outreach, Support, and Coordination: The proposal includes outreach, support, and coordination activities coupled with technical assistance to reach the greatest number of stakeholders and Tribes; and address the breadth of water management, socio-economic and environmental issues facing the North Coast Funding Area.

Reference Number: 3860-P01-146

Implemented By: County of Humboldt

Objective: The objective of this project is to continue to facilitate stakeholder participation and input in the North Coast Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (NCIRWMP) and processes; provide support for the NCRP governance structure; maintain and enhance the NCRP collaborative framework; and sustain Tribal Engagement and the NCRP Water & Wastewater Service Provider Outreach & Support Program. Existing outreach and communication mechanisms and venues will be maintained, improved and new mechanisms employed. This project also aims at addressing technical assistance needs through activities that will identify and promote integrated and multi-benefit water-related projects in economically disadvantaged and Tribal communities. The technical assistance tasks will provide support, technical and engineering expertise, and capacity building tools necessary to develop Tribal and DAC projects that are competitive for local, regional, and statewide funding. In conjunction with the NCRP Proposition 1 Ad Hoc Committee, the NCRP Tribal Representatives will select Technical Assistance providers to meet the needs of North Coast Tribes. The NCRP will coordinate with other programs providing technical assistance services in the region. Examples of these may include Rural Community Assistance Corporation and California Rural Water Association to compliment and augment their programs where feasible.
