Project: Sonoma County Storm Water Resource - Planning Project

Description: The Sonoma County Water Agency (Water Agency) will develop a storm water resource plan (SWRP) for southern Sonoma County. The project includes the watersheds of two neighboring tributaries to San Pablo Bay; Sonoma Creek and the Petaluma River. These two watersheds are both within the USGS-designated San Pablo Bay Cataloging Unit (HUC 18050002). Both of these watersheds drain to San Pablo Bay and the larger San Francisco Bay and share water quality goals driven by similar impairments in shared receiving waters. The Water Agency has numerous existing partnerships it will leverage to strengthen its capacity for successful planning and project implementation. The Water Agency will convene a planning process for the SWRP including municipal government and non-governmental organizations, planning and watershed restoration groups, and regional planning organizations. Outreach and education to the public and disadvantaged communities will be undertaken through this collaborative process.
