Description: This project provides growers with technical assistance and installation of soil moisture monitoring systems in Napa County and Sonoma Valley, and technical assistance and installation of water metering and measuring devices on agricultural water diversions in Sonoma, Mendocino and Napa Counties. This project includes partial subsidies for equipment, not to exceed 50 percent for soil moisture monitoring equipment and an estimated average of 26 percent for water metering and measuring equipment. Outreach will also be targeted to include Disadvantaged Community or Economically Distressed Area growers, who will receive priority in program participation. A grower workbook developed by CLSI, along with workshops and grower meetings, will be used to provide growers with background information on site selection, correct installation methods, irrigation record keeping, and downloading and interpreting data.
