Project: Installation of a SCADA Integrated Metering System at Turnouts of the Pumping-Trough-Pipeline System

Description: Construction project to: 1) install 62 new flow meters with = ±0.5% accuracy on PTP system turnouts, 2) integrate 62 new PTP turnout flow meters with United’s SCADA system, 3) develop at least one new water supply management strategy or project using real-time water use data provided by the new metering system within 5 years of completing the project, and 4) provide operations and maintenance (O&M) cost savings of $5,000/year by automating meter reads. Implementation of this project will provide highly accurate and real-time measurements of agricultural water deliveries to the PTP System and facilitate potential new water delivery projects and implementation of strategies to improve reliability of water supply, reduce groundwater pumping in Oxnard Plain and improve water quality of Oxnard confined aquifers.

Objective: The project goals are to 1) provide highly accurate and real-time measurements of agricultural water deliveries to United's PTP System, and 2) facilitate potential new water delivery projects and implementation of strategies to improve reliability of water supply, reduce groundwater pumping in Oxnard Plain and improve water quality of Oxnard confined aquifers.
