Project: Looney Weir Modernization Project

Description: This construction project provides for modernization of the Sutter-Butte Main Canal Looney Weir controls to enable modification of canal operations so that available capacity in the upper reaches can be used to convey supplemental flows to SEWD to reduce reliance on the Sunset Pumps. This project will also include hydraulic modeling to size and design the new weir; design of project features; environmental documentation, compliance, permitting, and monitoring; construction contracting and supervision; and, construction of the new weir. The majority of grant funds will fund the actual project construction. Although the project serves growers within a Disadvantaged Community, no reduction in local cost-share was requested.
