Project: On-Farm Spanish-language Irrigator Certification Training in Water Use Efficiency

Description: This education and outreach project will consist of educating Spanish-speaking irrigators as well as small farmers who directly manage their own irrigation on water-, energy- and time-saving irrigation techniques. Two different course levels will be offered as two-day workshops, concluding in certification exams for the respective levels. Upon passing the exam, attendees will receive certification in Level 1 or Level 2 Irrigation Water Management from the Irrigation Training and Resource Center (ITRC) at California Polytechnical State University, San Luis Obispo. Those irrigators trained in the water conservation techniques will be able to implement them for the benefit of groundwater conservation and local water quality.
