Project: Cardiff Beach Living Shoreline Project Phase 2

Description: This project develops a plan for four acres of beach dune restoration at Cardiff State Beach. The plan will utilize a “living shoreline” approach, which will both restore valuable habitat and also provide natural sea-level rise adaptation by protecting a vulnerable segment of Coast Highway. The project will be constructed using exported materials from the adjacent San Elijo Lagoon (either from its annual mouth maintenance or the San Elijo Lagoon Restoration Project). The proposed phase will consist of final project design, permit applications, and construction documents.
