The Sonoma Resource Conservation District received a grant from Proposition 1 for implementation of the LandSmart On-the-Ground for Sonoma Creek Vineyards project. The project will increase the water sustainability of four vineyards in the Sonoma Creek watershed, designing and implementing improvements that will achieve multiple benefits: water quality, groundwater recharge, water conservation, habitat enhancement, carbon sequestration, and drought and climate change resiliency. The Sonoma RCD will implement a total of 73 on-the-ground structural and vegetative improvements at four vineyards, including: road upgrade and decommissioning; stream habitat improvement; installation of stream crossings; in-channel stabilization; installation of pipeline and appurtenances; water diversion; and vegetation management.
