Project: City of Los Angeles Avalon Green Alley Demonstration Project

Description: Grant to the Trust for Public Land to build a pilot garden composed of vegetative infrastructure in an existing alleyway in a low-income, urban community in South Los Angeles to demonstrate how to sequester carbon and mitigate the urban heat island effect, in addition to other benefits. The project will increase groundwater infiltration through innovative stormwater capture, improve public health, and increase community awareness of climate change.
