Project: Salinas Valley Groundwater Basin Assessment and Modeling

Description: The purpose of this project is to perform a five-year study of the water supply and groundwater quality in Zone 2c of the Salinas Valley Groundwater Basin (3-4) by completing the following tasks through the development of an integrated groundwater-surface water model: 1) Evaluate existing seawater intrusion and groundwater level data collected by the Monterey County Water Resources Agency. 2) Evaluate seawater intrusion and groundwater level trends from data collected during the study. 3) Evaluate total water demand for existing and future uses. 4) Assess and provide conclusions regarding the degree to which the total water demands for existing uses are likely to be reached or exceeded. 5)Evaluate and provide conclusions regarding future trends and expected changes in groundwater elevations and the extent of seawater intrusion.
