Project: Richardson Kashia Acquisition and Coastal Trail Extension

Description: This project involves a grant to the Trust for Public Land (TPL) to acquire the 688-acre Richardson Ranch property on the Sonoma coast for natural resource protection and public access. The property straddles Highway 1 with the east side containing 36 acres of coastal meadow and 600 acres of coniferous forest habitat suitable for at least two special status species inhabitants, the northen spotted owl and marbled murrelet. The portion of the property west of the Highway supports 52 acres of rare coastal prairie habitat and opportunities for one mile of new coastal trail along a spectacular coastal bluff that will connect to Salt Point State Park to the south.
