Project: Morro Bay State Park: Chorro Flats (No cost)

Description: Chorro Flats includes a half mile of prime riparian habitat and floodplain area along Chorro Creek. Chorro Creek is one of two creeks that fee into the Morro Bay estuary. The US EPA has classified Morro Bay estuary a National estuary, one of 28 National Estuaries nationwide. The San Luis Resource Conservation District (RCD) has expressed a strong interest in transferring ownership and managment of the Chorro Flats parcel to Parks. Chorro Creek has historically supported a run of the federally threatened south central coast steelhead. 80.87 acres.
