Project: Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, Tenaja Corridor, Expansion 4, Riverside County

Description: A cooperative acquisition project with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Department of Fish and Game (DFG), TNC donated a 3 acre conservation easement to the State as an expansion of the DFG's Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve, Tenaja Corridor, located east of the City of Temecula, in Western Riverside County's Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan, in southwestern Riverside County. The acquisition project involved the donation of fee title to seven properties, totaling 74 acres, by TNC to the State. The values of the properties were used, in part, as an in-kind match for U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service Section 6 grant funds to acquire a 40 acre property referred to as Expansion 10 to the Ecological Reserve. TNC also donated, as part of the project, two conservation easements, including the subject property, totaling 19 acres. The easements did not provide any in-kind value for federal grant funding. The bond funds were for Department of General Services appraisal review.
