Project: Mount San Jacinto State Park: Restore Round Valley Meadow Erosion Gully, Implementation Phase

Description: Restore Round Valley Meadow Erosion Gully, implementation phase- time urgency -While the erosion gully has been growing slowly over the past 70 yrs. or more the borrow sites which are currently identified are a limiting factor. Surveys of the gully and the borrow sites show that the material to be retrieved from the existing borrow sites will fill the gully under today`s conditions but as the gully expands we will have to seek out new borrow areas. Using additional borrow areas, if they can be found, will increase the disturbance footprint of the project and cause us to have to haul material further increasing the construction window. Any increase in construction window increases the cost of the project and the risk of equipment failure or other logistical problem.
